Setting up remote
access for Apple Mac/iMac
Setting up your i12 connection on
your Apple Mac/iMac couldn't be easier! Simply follow the
easy steps below to get your computer connected to the internet.
Begin by clicking the Apple Menu,
and then clicking "Control Panels", from there,
click on "Remote Access".
When Remote Access has launched,
you will need to enter your userID (youremailaddress@i12.com) in the name
box, your password and the i12 telephone number that is applicable
to your modem.
Click on the "Options"
button and select the "Protocol" tab, then click
on the two arrows next to "Use Protocol", and select
PPP from the drop-down list.
If you want your Apple Mac/iMac to
connect to the internet automatically when you launch your
browser or email program, make sure to a check "Connect
automatically when starting TCP/IP applications". Error
correction and TCP header compression also requires a check
to be placed in the box. Once you've done this, click "ok"
and close the Remote Access window.
All you need to do now is configure
the TCP/IP (this is the 'language' that computers use to communicate
over the internet). You can do this by clicking on the Apple
Menu and selecting "Control Panels", and then clicking
on TCP/IP.
If your i12 account is your first
internet connection, you may a message on the screen asking
whether you wish to make TCP/IP 'active', if this is the case,
click on "Yes" at this point to activate TCP/IP.
Click on the two arrows at the side
of "Connect via" and select "PPP" from
the drop-down list. Then click the two arrows beside "Configure"
and select "Using PPP Server".
You now need to configure the protocol
to work correctly with our servers. Click in the box next
to "Name server address", and type in 212.1.130.33
and then 212.1.130.32. Make sure that you press enter at the
end of each line. There are no other changes to make to this
screen. Close the window and click on "Save" when
asked "Save changes to the current configuration?"
