Designing your website

Are there any legal issues I should be aware of?

The contents of your website are your responsibility and you should be careful not to infringe any copyright, libel or obscenity laws. If in doubt, please seek professional advice.

How do I publish my website?
Once you've created your site, you need to publish it on the internet for other users to be able to see it. To find out how to publish your site, please click here.

Please make sure that the first page of your website is called index.htm or index.html, otherwise your visitors will only see a list of files.

How do I let people know about my website?
There are many ways you could let people know about your website. Probably the most cost-effective one would be to add your website address to your stationary including your letterheads, business cards, brochures and invoices as well as by simply adding your website address in all your advertising. You should also list your site in internet search engines such as Yahoo, Lycos, Alta Vista and Excite. To do this, simply go to the search engine you want to list in and look for the option "Add URL" or "Add site" and complete the necessary details, though it can take a few days for your listing to appear.

If you or your website design house are more knowledgeable in web-design, you should also make use of meta-tags in your site, as these allow for web 'crawlers' such as WebCrawler to 'find' your site without you needing to register a listing with them.
