Managing your i12 e-mail account

Your i12 e-mail account
Managing your hostname
Creating new POP3 e-mail addresses
Deleting POP3 e-mail addresses
Creating alias e-mail addresses
Deleting alias e-mail addresses
Changing your password

Your i12 e-mail account
Your i12 account allows you to setup an unlimited number of POP3 accounts as well as an unlimited number of e-mail aliases (these are email accounts that 'sit' on top of a POP3 account and share the same settings. Aliases are ideal for people who want to receive email to more than two addresses, such as one to "john" and one to "sales", but want the same userID and password for both accounts).

In addition, your i12 account allows you to create a "hostname" which may be used to give your business/organisation a much sleeker image, as it allows you to add email addresses that are clearly identified with your business/organisation. For example, rather than simply having yourname@i12.com, using a hostname you could have yourname@yourbusiness.i12.com

To manage your e-mail accounts, visit www.i12.com and click on "User tools" then click on the required link such as "Add e-Mail addresses". All pages mentioned below assume you have already entered into the user tools section.

Managing your hostname
When you originally created your i12 account, you would have registered one single POP3 e-mail address such as yourname@i12.com

You now have the option of customising your email address by adding a hostname to any POP3 account. In order to activate this option, you will first have to decide what hostname you would like. Then by clicking the "create new hostname" button from the bottom of the page, you can insert your chosen hostname into the box before the i12.com and then click the "create" button.

To delete a hostname, simply click on the delete hostname button and choose from the drop down list which hostname you would like to delete

Creating new POP3 e-mail addresses
Now that you have successfully created a hostname, you have the ability to create new POP3 e-mail addresses that 'link' to the hostname, for example if you created a hostname called mybusiness, you now have the ability to create a new email address such as sales@mybusiness.i12.com or accounts@mybusiness.i12.com

To create a new POP3 e-mail account, click on the "create new POP3" account button from the bottom of the page, then from the update page, insert your chosen e-mail address into the box before the drop down list of hostnames you have created. Then choose from the drop down list which hostname you would like to use with that e-mail address.

Once you have created your e-mail address and chosen you hostname, you will need to decide what password you are going to use for that account. Enter your chosen password into the field marked password and again in the box below to verify it is correct, then click on the "create" button.

Your passwords should to be between 6 and 24 characters long and should be all in lowercase and must not contain any spaces.

Deleting POP3 e-mail addresses
To delete a POP3 e-mail address, select the POP3 account you would like to delete from the list of accounts you have created on the main update page, then click on the "delete this account" button. This will take you to the delete POP3 account page and will display the e-mail address you have chosen to delete. You will then be asked, "do you really want to delete your account" upon which you should click the "yes" button.

Warning: If you delete a POP3 e-mail Address, you will also be automatically deleting any other e-mail alias addresses you have setup on that POP3 e-mail Address AND any messages that you have not collected from the i12 POP3 Server.

Creating alias e-mail addresses
As explained above, e-mail Aliases are email accounts that 'sit' on top of a POP3 account and share the same settings.

To create an alias e-mail address, simply click on the "add e-mail alias button", on the chosen POP3 account. Then type your chosen e-mail address in the box before the drop down list of hostnames, then select the appropriate hostname and click on the "create" button.

Deleting alias e-mail addresses
To delete an alias e-mail address, select the POP3 account that the alias is sitting on, then click " delete e-mail alias". A new page will then load showing a list of e-mail addresses, simply highlight the alias you want to delete and click on "delete".

Changing your password
To change your password for any POP3 e-mail account, choose the account from the list of accounts you have created on the main page, then click the "change password" button.

When the new page loads, enter your new password in the box provided, and again below to verify, then click on the "change" button.
