Windows 95/98 dial up networking setup

Setting up your i12 connection couldn't be easier! Simply follow the four easy steps below to get your computer connected to the internet.

Step one - opening/installing dial up networking
If you do not have Dial up Networking installed on your Windows 95/98 computer, you must install it using the "Add/Remove" programs dialog found in "Control Panel".

Once you have installed Dial up Networking, double-click your "My Computer" icon, then double click on the "Dial up Networking" folder.

Step two - making a new connection
Double click on the "Make New Connection icon". Enter the name "i12" and make sure that your modem is shown in the dialog box. Then press "Next".

Type in 0845 in the area code, then type in the telephone number for your respective modem (to find out what number you need to use, please click here). Then press "Next" and then "Finish".

Step three - configuring DUN
Using the right hand mouse button, click on the icon for "i12" and choose "Properties" from the menu.

Ensure that "Use county code and area code" is checked, and click the "Server Type" button.

Uncheck all of the boxes apart from "TCP/IP" then click on the "TCP/IP Settings" button.

Ensure that "Server assigned IP address" and "Server assigned name server addresses" are selected. Media relations OK, and OK again.

Step four - connecting
Double click on the "i12" icon and type in your userID (youremailaddress@i12.com) in the user name and your password as allocated, then click the "Connect" button and after your modem dials up and logs in, simply launch your web browser and you're ready to use the Net!
