In the majority of cases, your Windows 95/98 computer should
already be setup correctly with its networking configuration
enabling you to successfully use your i12 account. However,
if this is not the case, or you simply want to confirm that
everything is setup correctly, then please read the following
steps.
Note: It is highly recommended that you shut down any software
you have running on your computer before you start this process.
You may also need your Windows 95/98 CDROM at hand.
Open the "Control Panel" by clicking the "Start"
button, then "Settings", then "Control Panel".
Then double-click the "Network" icon at which point
the following window should appear.

If you do not have the Client for
Microsoft Network, Dial-Up Adaptor or TCP/IP installed, then
click
here for a guide on adding these components.
Click the TCP/IP entry (it may say
TCP/IP -> Dial Up Adapter) and then click the "Properties"
button:

Click the IP Address tab and select
"Obtain an IP address automatically". Then click
the WINS Configuration tab and select "Disable WINS Resolution".
Now, click the DNS Configuration
tab and select "Disable DNS".
Click the Bindings tab.... the following
window should appear.

Then click the "ok" button
and then click "ok" again when you see the original
Network window.
Your computer should then copy some
files, it may ask you to enter your Windows 95/98 CD at this
point as well. Once it's finished, you should see a message
asking you whether or not to restart your computer, click
yes.
Several things may occur before you
reach the "Restart now" message; Firstly if you
are asked to "Keep your existing files", answer
Yes. Secondly if you are asked to "identify" your
computer, click on the Identification tab in the Network window
and type a name for your computer, and a workgroup in workgroup.
These can both be any name you wish, then click on the "ok"
button.
